So why spend over $400 on some Ray Ban glasses and 2011 Nike HyperDunks?
Because I can, and because I have the money to do so. You jelly, bro?
^The cocky statement above is what my mind is screaming out lately. But, I’d rather give a more better statement to reason with people who might have a problem with me spending that kind of money, which may be absurd to some folks who are the money-saving type, than to just bash them for being nosy.
So first, my eyes are pretty bad. I wore those night time contacts that you have to sleep in for the past 12 years of my life because I have astigmatism, which causes the cornea of my eye to be more football shaped rather than a normal basketball shape, ultimately blurring my vision and progressively gets worse and worse if not treated, so those hard contact lens I had previously actually cost about $2,000(OMG) and a little bit more since I broke a few and washed them down the drain. Thus, spending 300 dollars for some glasses and a couple hundred more for daytime contacts seemed more beneficial and cheaper. Secondly, I like shoes that are comfortable and would be more willing to ship out $200 to buy something that would meet the quality that I so desire when I play basketball or walk around, and I have done so before. But I decided to go for a pair of Nikes that were about $130 since they were the most comfortable and matched the quality that I so desired. Also, because the basketball shoes that I was currently wearing had no ankle protection and was losing some court traction. So HAHA just saved 1000+70 =$1070 bucks!!!!!!! all of you savers should BE SCREAMING WITH JOY, which I will probably end up spending on gas and food anyways.
So by saying all of those things and spending lavishly on certain items, may seem quite strange being an Asian American Christian, because we’re supposed to be the typical “Frugal Chinese” individuals and also give money to the poor and whatnot. I agree with giving the money to the poor, I do so whenever I drive around downtown Austin and just happen to stop by a light and see a homeless person asking for money, but definitely do not agree with being frugal. Also, talking about giving money to the poor, I think driving by and giving money to the poor is actually the bare minimum we can do. So sorry if I’m not like you, or your child who likes to save up their money for nothing, and seeing someone like me, who likes to spend a bit every now and then, makes you want to question my parent’s parenting or money decisions just pisses me off, and I definitely have a problem with you.
I am quite tempted in just posting things that I spent “ridiculous” amounts of money on just to trololololol. But I won’t, because I got school to think about.
